Katie Noonan and Karin Schaupp have an intuitive musical connection that has developed over the course of the 20 years of their creative relationship. Their collaborations to date have earned them an ARIA Award and widespread praise. Their latest co-creation, Songs of the Southern Skies Volume 2 once again promises to enchant national audiences.

Together they return to their acclaimed Southern Skies catalogue reinterpreting some of their favourite songs by antipodean artists - this time focusing on some of our finest female artists. Performing a varied program with reimagined arrangements of songs by artists such as Aunty Ruby Hunter, Missy Higgins, Sia, Kate Ceberano, Sarah Blasko and more as well as revisiting some favourites from the first Southern Skies installment.

Renowned for breaking down genre boundaries, Katie Noonan’s technical mastery and pure voice makes her one of Australia’s most versatile and beloved vocalists. Guitarist Karin Schaupp is an internationally sought-after recitalist and soloist. These two virtuosi combine forces to create a unique sound and a spellbinding performance.

The day will start with a workshop for all and then Bendigo choirs will perform alongside Metropolitan and Victorian regional choirs throughout the day. An evening Gala Concert will finish a day of singing including a massed choir (more details to come).

Would you like to sing with like minded, supportive women and have a lot of fun?

Women of Note is holding a Come and Try Night. We would love to invite you along for a great night of singing and meeting new people. Women of Note is a non-auditioning choir for women aged eighteen and over who reside in central Victoria.

Arrive at 6.50pm for a 7pm start until 8.30pm, followed by a light supper.

2024 Festival of Voices tour

Congratulations to the Women of Note Festival of Voices choir on a successful sing at the festival. The choir left Bendigo on Thursday 4th July and returned on Monday 8th July to participate in the last weekend of the festival. While in Hobart Women of Note gave performances as follows:

Winter Harmonies

Women of Note presents “Winter Harmonies” at St Paul’s Anglican Cathedral. Guest artists Castlemaine Chamber Players and Naroman - Melbourne Timorese Community Choir will join Women of Note to warmly celebrate the coldest season of the year with song. A delightful afternoon tea will follow the concert.

Women of Note Relay for Life

Women of Note choir has a Relay for Life team that raises money for cancer research. The Team takes part in the annual relay to commemorate those lost to cancer and celebrate the survivors in our lives. The relay is held at the Retreat Road Athletic Centre and involves relay walkers, decorated candles and a candlelight ceremony.

Thanks to everyone in the choir for supporting this ongoing cause with fundraising and/or by taking part in the relay.

Symphonia Choralis

Women of Note will be joining The Gisborne Singers & Friends in this evening celebration of choral music including singers from all around Victoria. Ahead of a performance of Beethoven’s titanic 9th Symphony on Sunday December 11, participating choirs will take turns sharing the spotlight in a choral recital of some of their respective favourite repertoire spanning over four centuries and hailing from all over the globe. This event is presented by The Gisborne Singers and will be hosted by their Artistic Director, Luke Severn. Other participating choirs include The Victorian Male Welsh Choir and The Woodend Warblers.
